I've finally started to collect data for a project analyzing the process that new "leaderless organizations" follow when they first form. Leaderless organizations is a loose term to refer to groups and projects as diverse as Anti-Racist Action, Critical Mass, Earth First!, Food Not Bombs, and others. Each has a certain template they seem to follow, but are still autonomous and independent from each other (although they will coordinate occasionally).

I want to be able to better understand the struggles and issues that activists face, as well as what strategies seem to work best when organizing without leaders. When the research is completed, I will share the results with the relevant activist communities, so we can strengthen our efforts and learn from our history.
